Wildlife
Dixie County is a haven for wildlife, with a diverse array of avian species that will leave you in awe. Grab your binoculars and head to one of our many birding hotspots, such as the Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge or the Big Bend Wildlife Management Area. From majestic bald eagles soaring overhead to elegant herons gracefully wading in the marshes, you'll have ample opportunities to spot rare and beautiful birds in their natural habitat. Don't forget to keep an eye out for the playful dolphins and gentle manatees that call our pristine coastal waters home. Dixie County is a wildlife lover's paradise, where every moment spent in nature is a chance to witness the wonders of the animal kingdom.
Hunting Clubs &
Wildlife Management
Log Landing WMA
These lands were acquired and are managed by the Suwannee River Water Management District (SRWMD) for the conservation and protection of water resources, public recreational use, and the restoration of natural communities.
Jena Unit - Big Bend WMA
For many years, local people have hunted on the lands now constituting the Big Bend WMA. Hunting and fishing continue to be the most popular recreational activities in the area. Biologists manage habitats to provide high-quality forage for dove, quail, deer and wild turkey as well as for nongame wildlife.
Lower Suwannee National
Wildlife Refuge
Hunting is an important wildlife management tool that we recognize as a healthy, traditional outdoor pastime, deeply rooted in America’s heritage.
Overlanding
The Dixie Mainline is a legendary trail that winds its way through the heart of Dixie County's mesmerizing landscapes.
